Cricket Australia has installed legendary cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Courtney Walsh as head coaches of the two sides in the Bushfire Bash. They now join an elite list of former stars who are scheduled to take the field once again.
Amidst the devastating situation in Australia where millions of life forms have been eradicated, many around the continent-country and other parts of the world have joined hands to supply reliefs to the concerned. The likes of Chris Lynn and Shane Warne have heavily funded the process as well, through donating a large sum of money.
The governing council of cricket operations in Australia also recently announced a charity match between legends, where all the profit collected would go to the Australian Red Cross. The likes of Adam Gilchrist, Brett Lee, Shane Watson, Michael Clarke, Justin Langer, and Steve Waugh have registered for the highly anticipated event, which is set to take place ahead of the Big Bash final.
The venue for this noble cause will be announced depending on what transpires in the Qualifiers of Australia’s premier T20 festival. Should the upbeat Melbourne Stars secure a ticket to the finals, Melbourne could play host three matches on the same day, as a tri-series match, between the Australian Women and the Indian women, is also on the schedule.
And now, following invitations from Warne himself, Tendulkar and Walsh have joined the cause. “We are absolutely honored to be welcoming Sachin and Courtney back to Australia where they both enjoyed a lot of success as players, and we can’t wait to have them involved in what is going to be a special day,” Cricket Australia CEO, Kevin Roberts, said.
Following contributions from a host of BBL stars and other members of the sporting fraternity, Roberts had also earlier mentioned, “I’m very proud of the response not only from the Australian Cricket family but from the broader sporting industry and the community at large. It’s just so humbling to see the collaboration and determination to do whatever is needed to help our fellow Australians in their time of need.”
It’ll be a treat for all old and new cricket supporters to witness the greatest set to Aussie cricketers, besides others, rub shoulders against each other in the friendly.
