The 86th season of the Ranji Trophy i.e. the 2019/20 season took place from 9 December 2019 to 13 March 2020. A total of 38 teams participated in the competition. They were divided into four groups- A, B, C, and Plate Group. Groups A and B had nine teams each while Group C and the Plate Group had ten teams each. The final took place between Abhimanyu Easwaran-led Bengal and Jaydev Unadkat-led Saurashtra. The well-fought match was eventually drawn but based on the 1st innings lead, Saurashtra was declared as the Ranji Trophy 2019/20 champions. The top two teams from Group C (Jammu & Kashmir and Odisha) and one top team from the Plate Group (Goa) advanced to the quarter-finals.
Out of the above 8 teams, Gujarat, Saurashtra, Karnataka, and Bengal advanced to the semi-finals.
Finally, the Ranji Trophy 2019/20 final took place from March 9-13, 2020, between Saurashtra and Bengal, which was drawn. Based on the 1st innings lead, Saurashtra were crowned as the Ranji Trophy 2019/20 champions.
Arpit Vasavada was named as the player of the match in the final for his 106 runs in 287 balls in the first innings.

Rahul Dalal from Arunachal Pradesh is the leading run-scorer in the Ranji Trophy 2019/20. He scored 1340 runs in 9 matches at an average of 95.71, hitting 4 tons and 5 fifties in the whole season.
Taruwar Kohli from Mizoram is the second on the most-runs list with 998 runs in 9 matches at an average of 71.28.
Puneet Bisht from Meghalaya is the third-highest run-scorer in the Ranji Trophy 2019/20 with 976 runs in 9 matches at an average of 69.71.

Most Wickets in Ranji Trophy 2019/20
Saurashtra’s captain Jaydev Unadkat led his team to their 1st Ranji Trophy Title and also topped the list of the most wicket-takers by taking 67 wickets at an average of 13.23 in 10 matches he played.
Ramsingh Sanjay Yadav is the second-highest wicket-taker in the Ranji Trophy 2019/20 with 55 wickets in 9 matches at an average of 12.65.
Harshal Patel from Haryana is third on the list with 52 wickets in 9 matches at an average of 14.48.

Most Catches in Ranji Trophy 2019/20
Shubham Singh Pundir from Jammu & Kashmir took 20 catches in 10 matches and thus leads the most catches in the Ranji Trophy 2019/20 tally.
Gujarat’s Samit Gohel and Bhargav Merai and Saurashtra’s Harvik Desai are all second on the list with 17 catches each.

Most Dismissals in Ranji Trophy 2019/20
Kona Srikar Bharat (KS Bharat) from Andhra is leading the list of the most dismissals by a wicket-keeper in the Ranji Trophy 2019/20 with impressive 37 dismissals (34 catches and 3 stumpings) in just 7 matches.
Puducherry’s Sai Karthik is second on the list with 36 dismissals (33 catches and 3 stumpings) in 8 matches.
Kunal Saikia from Assam is third of the list with 34 dismissals (29 catches and 5 stumpings).
