The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League is due to commence within some months and after an action-packed trade window followed with the auctions, the teams now look well-equipped to head into the next season of the league. The IPL, however, is a competition where the focus is not only set on the franchises but is closely directed towards the various individuals who take part in the same. Like in every edition of the IPL, the ‘Orange Cap’ contest would be a closely fought one in all probabilities and here I list down my top five predictions of who can claim that honor this year.
5: Aaron Finch:
We all know that Aaron Finch hasn’t had the best of times in this coveted league. With the RCB being his eighth team though, fortunes could change by quite a bit. Up until now, Finch has averaged 26.31 in his 75 IPL matches. That’s simply disappointing for someone of caliber and prowess especially in the shortest format of the game.
However, being in a rich vein of form in the past year or so could aid him to translate that success in this league as he would come into the most mismanaged IPL franchise with incredible touch and form at his back. Moreover, whilst opening, Finch could be lethal in the shorter boundaries present in the Chinnaswamy Stadium, wherein ideal circumstances the ball would come onto the bat at a brilliant pace too.
Under conducive conditions and in a situation and a team where he would be seen as one of the leaders of the side, Finch can possibly overturn the underachiever notion that has gotten attached to him when it comes to the most prominent T20 league in world cricket.
