3. Jos Buttler:
Jos Buttler is the quintessential modern-day T20 batsman; he is unorthodox, he is flamboyant and an absolute match-winner. Moreover, he thrives for the Rajasthan Royals whenever he opens the batting for them. The Sawai Mansingh Stadium presents an excellent pitch, however, Buttler has shown an ability to efficiently churn out runs in abundance in any given condition. The field restricted overs are when he looks to add heaps of runs to his name, and whether or not he scores his first IPL century this season would depend upon how the Englishman is able to deal with the spinners who are introduced into the attack in the middle stages of the innings. He has come close in the past to reach the three-figure mark, scoring nine half-centuries and even an unbeaten 95 runs on one occasion. It would be advisable to punt upon him to deliver adequately, as he has better batting cushion around him too so that he can play his original prototype style of play and hence wouldn’t be coerced to curb his instinctive approach on the majority of the instances. 2. Suryakumar Yadav:
Suryakumar Yadav’s name that has propelled to greater heights in recent times, especially due to his incredible exploits in the domestic limited-overs tournaments.
The man has been in the circuit for quite some time now, but he almost always flattered to deceive after a couple of impressive performances. However, now, Yadav seems to have grasped some stability and consistency after a couple of steady seasons with the Mumbai Indians.
He has shown his versatility by playing in both the top and the middle order, and hence can be one of the players to breach that 100 run-mark in the IPL 2020. He has crossed the 320 runs at least in both of his last two seasons and scored seven half-centuries including the highest score of 72.
Yadav has developed a vast array of shots and his expertise also lies in demonstrating his mastery over the spinners wherever his other compatriots fail to turn up; for example, the first Qualifier of IPL 2019 against the CSK. If handed over a few more overs, Suryakumar can be touted to be one of the new, exciting entrants in the elite list of IPL centurions. (Click Next Page)
1. Tom Banton:
Here’s another left-field choice for the listicle, but surely a player who would be widely looked out for by the masses. Tom Banton made heads turn with his commendable outings in the Vitality T20 Blast in 2019.
Accordingly, he was expected to earn big bucks in the IPL auctions too but it is honestly surprising to a degree that the KKR managed to lure him over for mere 1 crore, a meager sum in the current day and age for a batsman who has created such a buzz all across the T20 leagues.
Banton hasn’t really livened up his international career yet, however, in 27 T20s that the lad has played so far, his strike rate is an immense 160.22.
Moreover, he has amassed seven half-centuries and a century already in these 27 matches and looks set to achieve much more meritorious feats in his possibly long career ahead. Banton has a variety of shots up his sleeve and is an outrageously dynamic batsman who rakes of the modern-day T20 batsman.
Perhaps his rise in recent times as a result of the cultural change observed in the English cricket and one can only hope that the 20-year-old is able to replicate his overall T20 career’s performances in the IPL too.
