It wasn’t a great day in the office for the Japan team who faced a 10-wicket thrashing by India. The entire game lasted for only 27.4 overs which is the second quickest finish in the history of the U19 World Cup. People are raising questions if they are good enough to compete at this level. But after the game, a heartening gesture by Indian captain Priyam Garg who invited Japan team for a group photo would have boosted their morale a bit.
Beautiful gesture.

Earlier Indian captain Priyam Garg elected to field first. But Japan batsmen neither had any answers against pace of Kartik Tyagi and Akash Singh nor they fail to read leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi. The entire scorecard doesn’t look like great reading in which only extras reached double-digits (19). Responding to the target, Indian openers Yashaswi Jaiswal and Kumar Kushagra didn’t face any difficulty to chase it down in 5th over.
Japan so far haven’t had a great time in tournament. They faced 253-run and 256-run thrashing against UAE and Scotland respectively in warm-up games. So this gesture by Indian captain will inspire their players to salvage pride in remaining games.
This gesture of inviting opposition for a group photo is nothing new in Indian cricket. In 2018, when Afghanistan played their inaugural test India, Indian stand-in captain Ajinkya Rahane also had invited the Afghanistan team for a group photo.
