The World Cup final played between England and New Zealand was tied and then went to super over which was again tied.
The match was played on July 14, 2019, Sunday at the Lord’s, London.
England was playing in their own backyard, while New Zealand was playing in a World Cup Final for the second consecutive time. In the 2015 ODI World Cup they had lost to Australia in the final.
In the 2019 World Cup, England beat Australia in the semi-final and New Zealand beat India in the semi-final.
This match turned out to be one of the most epic matches as England pulled a losing match out of the cemetery and then managed to tie it! New Zealand seemed to be in quite good control of the match for the most part, but it was Ben Stokes’ heroic and patient chase of the target set by New Zealand and then taking it to the tie level gave a thrill to many.
The thrill was just a tip of the iceberg compared to the goosebumps one got when the Super Over was tied too.
Finally, England players erupted in joy as they ran out Martin Guptill as he could not complete his second run in the Super over and England became Champions based on the boundary count.
