South African tailenders once again frustrated Indian bowlers. It was day 3 of the 2nd Test between India and South Africa, in Pune. In this article, we will some funny twitter reactions on the long battle between Team India’s bowlers and the opponent team’s tailenders and the accompanying frustrations.
Before we see the reactions, let us take a look at the tailender problem.
Keshav Maharaj and Vernon Philander Show
At one point, South Africa scoreboard showed 139/7. But at the end of the day, Proteas tailenders managed to add 136 more runs to the total. Yes, they got all out, only when they reached 275 runs.
Keshav Maharaj scored 72 runs from 132 balls and Vernon Philander scored 44 runs from 192 and stayed not out too.
Keshav Maharaj showed immense courage and batted doggedly, in spite of his shoulder injury.
Previous battles with tailenders
Indian bowlers who consistently manage to take early wickets of the top and middle-order batsmen, somehow fail to deal with the lower order.
Last year, in England, it was Sam Curran, Adil Rashid, and Stuart Broad who posed problems for Team India, while in Australia, it was Nathan Lyon, Pat Cummins, And Mitchell Starc.
We also saw a similar situation in the West Indies tour.
No one wonder, fans, management, and Team India are perplexed over the tailender problem.
To me, it feels as if a high-profile surgeon, who can do complex operations, is somehow failing to treat patients with normal cold.
