Big Bash League 2018/19 was packed with entertainment, excitement, and thrill. We saw some amazing individual and team performances throughout the tournament. Today, we will see the top batting, bowling, and fielding records from the BBL 2018/19.
As most of you know the Top 4 teams to reach the semi-finals were Hobart Hurricanes(20 points), Melbourne Renegades(16 points), Sydney Sixers(16 points) and Melbourne Stars(14 points), while the bottom two teams were the last season’s winner Adelaide Strikers(12 points) and three times winner Perth Scorchers(8 points).
Brisbane Heat(13 points) and Sydney Thunder(13 points) were close to being into the top 4 but eventually missed it.
Here is a brief summary of the semi-finals and final match results. As you can see, Melbourne Renegades were winners of the tournament in 2018/19. They won the BBL title for the first time.

Batting Records in BBL 2018/19:
1. Most Runs by a Batsman
Hobart Hurricanes’ D’Arcy Short was the highest run-getter of the season with a whopping total of 637 runs at an average of 53.08 and SR of 140.62. His Teammate, WK-batsman Matthew Wade was the second most run-scorer in the tournament with 592 runs at an amazing SR of 146.90.
The third batsman in the list is Marcus Stoinis from Melbourne Stars with 533 runs. Stoinis played 13 matches in the season, while Short and Wade played 15 each.

2. Highest Individual Score
Sydney Thunder’s Callum Ferguson scored 113 runs (not out) from 53 balls and so tops the list. He is followed by his teammate Shane Watson (100 from 62) and Perth Scorcher’s Shaun Marsh (96* from 55).
Hobart Hurricane’s Matthew Wade features three times in the list with scores of 88(54), 85(49), and 84*(49).

3. Highest Strike Rate (Minimum 150 runs in the tournament)
This list features players with high SR and who have scored a minimum 150 runs in the tournament.
Josh Philippe from Sydney Sixers tops the list with SR of 158.33. He scored a total of 304 runs from the 192 balls he faced. The second batsman and third batsman on the list are Ben Cutting (SR: 153.70) and Max Bryant (SR:150.22) respectively. Both are from Brisbane Heat.

4. Most Sixes Hit
Big Bash League is all about big sixes. Some batsmen use power to send the ball into the orbit while some use timing and technique. But in both cases, spectators are thrilled and entertained. Let us see who entertained the crowds the most and also catapulted their team’s winning chances.
HH’s D’Arcy Short leads the list by hitting the big shot 22 times in the tournament. He is followed by BH’s incredible hitter Chris Lynn and HH’s Matthew Wade with 21 sixes each.

D’Arcy Short loves hitting not only sixes but fours too. Here again, he has hit the most fours in the tournament. He sent the ball beyond boundary 65 times via ground route. Marcus Stoinis from Melbourne Stars hit 49 fours and Matthew Wade from Hobart Hurricane hit 48 fours in the BBL 2018/19

Bowling Records in BBL 2018/19:
1. Most Wickets
There is nothing more thrilling and game-changing than taking the wicket of the opposition team. Let us see who provided the important break-throughs for his team the most number of times.
Melbourne Renegades’ Kane Richardson took 24 wickets in BBL 2018/19 with an economy of 7.75. Sydney Sixers’ Sean Abbott and Steve O’Keefe are next in the list with 22 and 21 wickets respectively.

2. Lowest Bowling Economy Rate (Minimum 100 balls)
Taking wickets is not the only way to beat your opponent team. You can smother them by bowling economical spells. Let us see who helped the cause in BBL 2018/19.
Brisbane Heat’s Mujeeb Ur Rehman bowled 279 balls in the tournament and gave only 281 runs off it and thus the tops this list with the economy rate of 6.04.
Adelaide Strikers brilliant spinner Rashid Khan is second on the list with an economy rate of 6.14 in 14 matches. Also, Usman Shinwari from Melbourne Renegades has the same economy rate of 6.14 but he played in only 7 matches, so is third on the list.

Brisbane Heat’s Josh Lalor tops the list with a bowling average of just 14.85 and total 20 wickets in 11 innings. He is followed by MS’s Marcus Stoinis and SS’s Steve O’Keefe with bowling averages of 16.14 and 17.52 respectively.

1. Most Catches by a Fielder
We all have heard the term ‘Catches win matches’. Let us see who topped the most catches list in Big Bash League 2018/19.
The ever electric Glen Maxwell from Melbourne Stars tops the list with 16 catches in 13 matches. MR’s Dan Christian is second on the list with 15 catches in 16 matches.

Sydney Thunder’s Chris Jordan sent three batsmen back to pavilion via run-out in just 7 matches he played.

3. Most Dismissals by a Wicket-keeper
Sydney Sixers’ Josh Phillipe tops this list with a total of 13 dismissals. He took 9 catches, did 1 run-out and 3 stumpings in the BBL 2018/19.
Alex Carey (11 dismissals) from Strikers and Matthew Wade (10 dismissals) from Hurricanes are second and third on the list.
