A fine-tuned chase of 162 accomplished by the Brisbane Heat ensured a second consecutive Women’s Big Bash League crown for Kirby Short and co., as they outclassed Adelaide Strikers at the Allan Border Field. Batting first, Adelaide Strikers made 161/7 in 20 overs. In reply, Brisbane Heat chased down the target losing only four wickets with 11 balls remaining. Thus, they easily won this match by six wickets and became Women’s Big Bash League 2019/20 Champions. Brisbane Heat’s Beth Mooney won the player of the match award for 56* runs from 45 balls. Adelaide Strikers’ Sophie Devine won the player of the tournament award.
The WBBL final took place on Sunday, December 8, 2019, in Brisbane. Australian international Beth Mooney shepherded the run chase with a mature, well-anchored 56*. The opener has now scored two half-centuries in back-to-back WBBL finals, serving as an epitome of a dependable batswoman at the top of the order.
Laura Harris, who struck a quick-fire 19 of 11 balls, was there to score the winning runs and capture the tastiest moment of the season.

Earlier, a blistering 33-ball 55 from Amanda-Jade Wellington powered the strikers to a respectable total, considering the prominence of the outing being a final. Following the dismissal of Bridget Patterson at 93-5 just before the end of the 14th over, the Strikers were looking like getting just about 130-odd.
But, Wellington took the attack to the opposition and single-handedly marshaled her team’s innings. The other notable performance with the bat was from Tahlia McGrath (33 of 20 balls).

However, with experience comes credibility and in turn, consistency. Mooney’s infectious presence at the crease never really caused any sort of nerves to the Brisbane dressing room. She soaked in all the pressure and let the others around her play their game. Not to mention, she shifted through gears remarkably well too.
Sammy Jo-Johnson however, was the one who got the party going inside a packed stadium. With four maximums, she absolutely raced her way to 27, before eventually falling out caught and bowled to Sophie Devine. (3-0-46-1) It was her innings that licensed the middle order to build a partnership with Mooney, and it was no wonder that Brisbane got over the line with six wickets and 11 balls to spare.
Although Devine was all over the place in that over, she deservedly won the player of the tournament for accumulating most runs in the tournament. She scored 769 runs at an unbelievable average of 76.90.
