Barbados Tridents won this qualifier-2 match by beating Trinbago Knight Riders by 12 runs. They have now reached the final of CPL 2019 to face Guyana Amazon Warriors on Oct 12, 2019.
Trinbago Knight Riders won the toss and asked Barbados Tridents to bat first.
Batting first, Barbados Tridents had a slow start. Opener Johnson Charles made 35 runs off 41 balls and Alex Hales made 10 runs off 11 balls. No one later from the Tridents side could score more than 30 runs. Thanks to some death overs hitting by Raymon Reifer (24 runs from 18 balls) and Ashley Nurse (24 runs from 9 balls), Barbados Tridents reached a total score of 160/6 in 20 overs. Ali Khan, Khary Pierre, and Chris Jordan took 2 wickets each.
In reply, Trinbago Knight Riders had a bad start, as they lost their both openers early and the scoreboard showed 19/2 in 2.1 overs.
Captain Kieron Pollard was looking good but got run-out when he was on 23 runs from 16 balls, by Hayden Walsh. Colin Munro, Denesh Ramdin, and Darren Bravo were already back in the dressing room. TKR were in real trouble and the win seemed pretty distant at that stage.
However, just then, Seekugge Prasanna tried to pull the match out from the grave and bring life to it, by his 51 run- knock in just 27 balls, involving 4 fours and 4 sixes.
But after Prasanna got LBW out on the bowling of Raymon Reifer, things again changed dramatically in favor of Barbados Tridents.
Later the lower order failed to fight back and Trinbago Knights got all out on 148 runs in 19.3 overs.
Bowlers Harry Gurney, Hayden Walsh, Raymon Reifer, and Ashley Nurse from Barbados Tridents, all took 2 wickets each, while captain Jason Holder took one.
Thus, Barbados Tridents won the match by 12 runs and will now compete for the CPL 2019 Championship title on Oct 12, 2019, against the Guyana Amazon Warriors.

His opening partner Chandrapaul Hemraj sprained his hamstring and then later in the same over while trying to go big, he gave a catch to Shakib al Hasan. He got out on 1 run from 5 balls. Raymon Reifer got his 1st wicket.
Then came Shimron Hetmyer. Raymon Reifer took his second wicket by dismissing dangerous Shimron Hetmyer rather cheaply for 9 runs from 5 balls.

Brandon King, who was looking fabulous, got stumped out on the smart bowling of Ashley Nurse. He scored 43 runs from 33 balls with 4 fours and 1 six. Guyana Amazon Warriors at that stage were on 79/4 in 11 overs.
Now the responsibility was on Nicholas Pooran and Sherfane Rutherford. But the required run rate reached well above 14 and that got Pooran.

The Warriors needed 77 runs from 30 balls and the hope for them was fading.
Sherfane Rutherford tried to go over Jason Holder standing at the deep mid-off but fell short and Holder took a good catch. And thus Harry Gurney got his first wicket. Rutherford scored 15 runs from 12 balls.
Soon Romario Shepherd got out on 9 runs from 7 balls.
Keemo Paul, however, tried to create some ripples towards the end hitting two sixes, but got out on 25 runs from 14 balls, while trying to hit another six. Gurney got his second wicket as Holder took a simple catch at the long-on boundary line.
The Warriors needed 33 runs 6 balls with 2 wickets in hand.
Raymon Reifer bowled the last over and took the wicket of Chris Green on the first ball. Green made 5 runs from 3 balls. It was Reifer’s fourth wicket of the match.
Tailenders Imran Tahir and Ben Laughlin could not create any magic.
And that’s it. The match was over and CPL 2019 got its new champions.
Jason Holder-led Barbados Tridents won the final by 27 runs.
The Tridents fans in the dark blue Tridents jerseys were jumping, cheering and waving their team’s flag.
The Tridents teammates were hugging and congratulating each other. And it was just the start of celebration for them.
