Just 11 days after the coronation of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 Champion, some of the best cricket players will again come together for the Global T20 League. Brampton Wolves is the new team in the GT20. It is introduced in place of Cricket West Indies B, which was the runner-up in the last GT20 season.
Vancouver Knights had won the GT20 2018 tournament. It was led by Chris Gayle. Winnipeg Hawks and Edmonton Royals were the other two teams that had qualified for the playoffs.

Brendon McCullum, Yuvraj Singh, Kieron Pollard, Chris Gayle, Shoaib Malik, Andre Russell, George Bailey, Sunil Narine, Thisara Perera, Kane Williamson, Faf du Plessis, Ben Cutting, Chris Lynn, Dwayne Bravo, JP Duminy, Daren Sammy, Shakib Al Hasan, Colin Munro are the marquee players in the Global T20 League Canada 2019.
Apart from them, Trent Boult, Tim Southee, Shahid Afridi, Wahab Riaz, Shadab Khan, Sandeep Lamichhane, Rassie van der Dussen, Ali Khan, etc are the other star players playing in the GT20 Canada 2019. Full list of all team squads is given later in the article.
2019 Global T20 Squads Selection Rules
Each team squad :
- Will have a total of 17 members.
- Will have a maximum of 7 players from the ICC full member nations (including the three pre-assigned marquee players)
- Must have 5 players from ICC Associate member nations (including one player from ICC Americas)
- Must have 5 Canadian national players (3 players from Canada A and 2 players from Canada B)

3) Four players from ICC Associate member nations (any combination of ICC Associates/ICC Americas)

Vancouver Knights Squad for Global T20 2019:
Vancouver Knights, the winner of the first season of the Global T20 League, retained six players including the three marquee players. Last season’s captain Chris Gayle, Pakistani all-rounder Shoaib Malik, and West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell are the marquee players for the Knights.
They also retained New Zealand pacer Tim Southee(US$ 75,000), South African batsman Rassie van der Dussen (US$ 60,000), and USA pacer Ali Khan(US$ 25,000).
Other players picked in the squad are Jamaican wicket-keeper batsman Chadwick Walton (US$40,000), Australian all-rounder Daniel Sams, Antiguan-American all-rounder Hayden Walsh Jr, Namibian left-arm pacer Johannes Jonathan (JJ) Smit, Dutch wicket-keeper batsman Tobias Visee, and Dutch all-rounder Michael Rippon.
Pakistan-born Canadian all-rounder and player of the match in the GT20 2018 final, Saad Bin Zafar, Canadian medium-fast bowler Rayyan Pathan, Canadian cricketer Harsh Thaker, Pakistan-born Canadian all-rounder, Canada cricket team captain Rizwan Cheema, and Canadian batsman Matthew Nandu are the five Canadian players in the squad.
Jamaican-born former fast bowler, Donovan Miller, who played for Hertfordshire, Derbyshire, and Essex, will be the coach for Vancouver Knights.
Toronto Nationals Squad for Global T20 2019:
New Zealand’s awesome batsman Brendon McCullum, Sixer King from India Yuvraj Singh, and fabulous West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard are the marquee players from the Toronto Nationals squad.
Toronto Nationals also picked New Zealand pacer Trent Boult(US$ 75,000), South-African wicket-keeper batsman Heinrich Klaasen(US$ 40,000), Indian medium-pacer Manpreet Singh Gony (US$ 25,000), South African-born Australian all-rounder Chris Green.
Leg Break Googly bowler from Nepal – Sandeep Lamichhane, Scottish all-rounder and ICC Associate Cricketer of the year 2018 Calum MacLeod, Indian-born UAE batsman Chirag Suri, UAE wicket-keeper batsman Ghulam Shabber, and USA all-rounder Jasdeep “Jessy” Singh are the other players in the squad.
Canadian cricketer Jeremy Gordon, Canadian cricketer Raviderpal Singh, Pakistani-born Canadian cricketer Salman Nazar, Guyanese-born Canadian all-rounder Mark Montfort, and Canadian batsman Rodrigo Thomas are the five Canadian players in the Toronto Nationals squad.
Former Australian fast bowler Geoff Lawson will take the responsibility of the coach for the Toronto Nationals.
Winnipeg Hawks Squad for Global T20 2019:
Winnipeg Hawks retained their three marquee players: Australian big-hitting batsman Chris Lynn, top all-rounder Dwayne Bravo from Trinidad, and South-African all-rounder JP Duminy.
They later picked Barbadian all-rounder Dwyane Smith (US$ 60,000), Pakistani wicket-keeper batsman Umar Akmal ($40,000), West Indian all-rounder Rayad Emrit (US$ 25,000), and reliable Afghanistan batsman Najibullah Zadran in the squad.
Dutch fast-medium bowler Paul van Meekeren, Nepalese all-rounder Sompal Kami, Pakistan-born UAE batsmen Rameez Shahzad and Shaiman Anwar, and Indian-born USA batsman Sunny Sohal are the other members of the squad from the ICC Associate nations.
Winnipeg Hawks have included Pakistan-born Canadian wicket-keeper batsman Hamza Tariq, Pakistan-born Canadian left-arm medium-fast bowler Kaleem Sana-ur Rehman, Canadian bowler Umair Ghani, Srilankan-born Canadian left-arm medium-fast bowler Romesh Eranga, and Indian-born Canadian all-rounder Varun Sehdev as the domestic talent in the squad.
Former Indian cricketer and former Afghanistan coach Lalchand Rajput will be the coach of Winnipeg Hawks. He is also the current coach of Zimbabwe cricket team.
Edmonton Royals Squad for Global T20 2019:
Edmonton Royals retained their three marquee players: New Zealand captain and great batsman Kane Williamson, South Africa captain and fantastic batsman Faf du Plessis, and very useful Australian all-rounder Ben Cutting.
They later picked Pakistan all-rounders Shadab Khan(US$ 75,000) and Mohd. Nawaz (US$ 60,000), West Indian (Guyanese) batting all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford (US$ 40,000), and New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham in the squad.
Scottish bowler Safyaan Sharif, Hong Kong captain and batsman Anshuman Rath, South-African-born Scottish batting all-rounder Richie Berrington, Pakistan-born Hong Kong bowler Ehsan Nawaz, and Trinidad born USA bowler Kyle Phillip are the 5 ICC Associates nation players in the squad.
